This deadly coronavirus may look small but it has caused a catastrophe across the globe and especially in a country's economy. Many shops and factories have been closed down due to orders by the government in order to combat this pandemic.


We can see a lot of 'panic buying' happening in countries like the US, Singapore, and many other countries due to the fear of being lockdown. We can see countries like China have shown to have a reduction in new cases due to the strict control of their government.

This virus not only affects just the poor but also the rich are also not being spared. Not just the ordinary people being affected but also the rich billionaires have taken a deep hit in their businesses.

Let us see some of the Billionaires which have their net worth declined due to this unfortunate incident.

1. Jeff Bezos

This is the wealthiest man in the world and even he is being affected by this outbreak. However, this is not the first time he lost so much money. In the previous years, he also lost a huge part of his net worth estimated to be around $30 Billion USD to his first wife MacKenzie Bezos.

As of writing, he lost another $6,4 Billion USD due to Covid-19. 

2. Amancio Ortega

This man is the richest man in Spain and some of you might not know him due to him rarely making an appearance on the media. Amancio Ortega is the founder of the popular clothing company, ZARA. 

ZARA will mostly follow the current trend of fashion and since Amancio manage to follow the change in times, this made him the richest man in the clothing business.

Unfortunately, even he cannot escape from the effect of Covid-19 which causes his net worth to plummet by $12.8 Billion USD.

3. Elon Musk

This man is the founder of Tesla and Space X and probably one of the most successful people in the tech industry. We can also see a very high increment in Tesla's stocks when they opened their first factory in China. 

But, you can never always be on top and it is believed that Elon Musk lost an estimated $5.5 Billion USD due to the coronavirus.

4. Leonardo Del Vecchio and Family

He is a Billionaire who has taken control of the eyewear market in the world. The company Luxottica is involved in posh eyewear.

The company is based in Italy and owns several expensive eyewear brands like Rayban, Oakley and many more. We all know that Italy at the moment has the second-highest case of coronavirus outside of China.

Due to this Leonardo has lost roughly $4.9 Billion USD.

5. Bernard Arnault and Family

Ever heard of the famous Louis Vuitton bag? Well, this will be the family who owns that brand. This company has since to growth spurt pretty similar to the economic growth in China. 

Bernard and his family have made big profits since China let them off taxes since their products are considered lavish and posh.

We all know about the coronavirus that has taken a very big hit in China recently which also impact Benard Arnault's business and he lost a staggering $14 Billion USD.

6. Carlos Slim Helu and Family

He is the richest man in Mexico and also became the richest man in the world in the past decade.

Carlos Slim Helu owns the biggest telecommunication company in South America. He is also well-known for being generous due to the many donations made to the poor people of American Latin.

This deadly virus has caused Carlos to lose $7 Billion USD.

7. Mukesh Ambani 

He once holds the throne for being the richest man in Asia before the coronavirus pandemic. Mukesh is the CEO of a very popular conglomerate company in India called Reliance Industries Limited.

This company owns the biggest crude oil refineries in the world and its business solely depends on the source of oil.

However, we are aware of the drop in the oil price recently due to a lot of people being terrified of going out of their houses to travel. This has also affected Mukesh's business and he has lost $6.1 Billion USD and also lost his throne to Jack Ma as the richest man in Asia.

8. Françoise Bettencourt Meyers and Family

She is currently the richest woman in the world. Well at least for now! She is the granddaughter of the founder of the biggest cosmetic company in the world, Loreal.

Francoise who have a rather tense relationship with his mother due to an event which is called Bettencourt Affair.

She is well impacted by this virus and has lost $4.9 Billion USD.
