Yelena Baturina - Richest Woman in Russia

This woman's full name is Yelena Nikolayevna Baturina or people would simply call her Yelena Baturina. She was born on 8 March 1963 and she is well-known for being a young entrepreneur, philanthropist, and a very successful woman indeed.

As of writing, her net worth stands at $1.2 Billion according to Forbes and she is the richest woman in Russia with very much influence. Yelena lives in Moscow where she first started her career as a designer technician ever since she ended high school.

Yelena worked at a cold freeze factory where her mother used to work. She then furthered her studies with Bachelor's Degree and graduated from Ordzhonikidze State University of Management in Moscow in the year 1986.

The Journey Begins

In the year 1980 - 1982 Yelena worked as a technician and designer for the factory in which she, later on, was promoted to Right hand Chief Design Engineer.

From 1982 - 1989 she worked as a researcher at the Integrated Economic Development Institute in Moscow as well as at the Russian Federation of Cooperatives. Then, she was promoted to Senior Specialist Commissioner at the Mosgorispolkom Commission on Cooperative Activity

Ever since 1989, Yelena started to get involved in her very own business. This is the point in her life where she starts to become an entrepreneur.

Yelena first met her love Yury Luzhkov who was a Russian Politician, in the year 1987 when both of them were serving at the Mosgorispolkom.

One of the things stated by Yelena when in a relationship was

This shows how serious Yelena was towards her work and them and later they got married in the year 1991. Her husband was elected as a leader in Moscow. However, in the year 2010, an unfortunate event took place when Yury was accused of broke trust regardless of his denying it.

Due to the incident, Yelena and Yury took the decision to move to London to start a new leaf and both of their children wanted to further their studies there.

According to the statement made by Yury in Telegraph in 2010, the main reason that he moved to London was to protect both their children from any possible harm that the Russian government could bring.

Yury swore that he would bring back his family's dignity and protect Yelena's business empire from the Russian authority.

Yelena Business Empire

Yelena founded her company, Inteco in the year 1991 and she became a board member of Inteco for two decades which is an investment and construction company. Most of Yelena's assets were invested in Baturina's Investment Group which is involved in many commercial businesses.

Yelena owned several hotel chains not just in Ireland but also in the Czech Republic and Russia. Aside from that, Yelena's company is also involved in construction and engineering in Germany, and natural resources processing in Greece, Cyprus, and Italy. On top of that, she also owned many investment and real-estate firms as well as commercial house development in Europe and the United States of America.

In the year 1989, Yelena launched her first collaboration with his younger brother Victor. They were both involved in computing like computer software and computer components.

Later in 1994, Inteco grew bigger and bought several plastic manufacturing companies in which in 1998 the company won a contract to produce 85,000 plastic chairs for Luzhniki stadium, the biggest stadium in Moscow.

During the mids of 1995 Inteco managed to take one step further when they start to focus on developing building materials and advanced technologies for the use of cement, bricks, concrete architectural design as well as real estate that is far more efficient.

In the year 2001, Inteco managed to become one of the giant companies in Russia. This is when Yelena owned a factory for house construction. What made it more interesting is the fact that she also received projects involving building houses that are 500,000 square meters per year.

In the beginning, it was rather unplanned for Yelena to buy the factory but she later bought it due to the owner seek for her help due to receiving death threats.

We all know that Russia is well known for gangsterism and violence. Yelena made the right move to protect the owner of the factory and we can see in return her company became one of the biggest in Russia.

Her life is definitely full of tragedies and incidents but her strong will manages to make her climb to the top and become the richest woman in Russia.
