The main question will be why people out there are willing to pay big bucks for the same type of jacket and what made Supreme insanely expensive? A very interesting logo, limited edition, and collaboration with artists have made Supreme catch the attention of many people out there.
Supreme started out as a small skateboard shop in New York to a streetwear company worth $1 billion since 20 years ago.
However, for all the collectors and fans out there, Supreme is more than just a brand and has become an obsession with its very own subcultures. Ever since it was produced, Supreme has maintained its original identity with the standard Supreme logo.
It all started when James Jebbia founded the company in 1994. as a skateboard shop in the city of Manhattan. At first, the shop started selling hoodies and sweatshirts for the hype towards skateboarding in New York at the time.
During the 90s and early 20s, Supreme has become the skateboard brand that fulfilled the demands of its customers especially those who have a taste for streetwear clothing. But that's not all, Supreme took one step further by making their streetwear clothing very limited which was the start of the company's success. The unique design of the Supreme logo is very iconic in that it started out to be in a white Italic character with a red background. This logo is one of the important keys to Supreme popularity. The new image and pop culture logo are made as if it is seen as contemporary art or graffiti in contrast to a big fashion brand.
The first T-shirt produced by Supreme was only showing Robert De Niro in the film "Taxi Driver" with a white and red logo. However, due to the constant use of unlicensed images, Supreme received a letter of cease and desist from many known entities such as Louis Vuitton, the National Hockey League(NHL), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA).
According to Tsivrikos a psychologist, the more we are exposed to a particular brand, the stronger the bond that will exist between the consumer and the brand. This is very true if we see the state of the company Supreme today.

Supreme, they don't focus on status but they give their full dedication and attention to what's more important which is to look stunning and to ensure that they are always recognized. The ability to be recognized is one of the crucial factors of the Supreme's success.
Not just that but the company is also intentionally making its products hard to be obtained so that the demand will be skyrocketing through the roof making the product itself very special.
Not just that but according to Chris Magnaye, reselling Supreme merchandise is not all that easy/ For instance, at 11 am on Tuesday, you visited the Supreme website to key in all your details like name, e-mail, phone number as well as credit card details.
Then, the company will send you an e-mail stating whether you are the chosen one to be on the line for one of their limited-edition Supreme merch. On Wednesday they will tell you the exact time and location to get your products.
Later on Thursday, you will have to go to the desired location at the designated time. There is a unique rule by Supreme in which you are only allowed to purchase 1 type of merch related to one style. For example, if there were 3 colored Supreme shirts, black, yellow, and white, then you will only be allowed to buy the black ones.
If you also want the yellow and the white ones, then you will have to ask someone else to queue up just like you did. In this case, there are many out there who are lining up for someone else. Supreme will only sell its products either online or at its physical store. It was only in the year 2000 that Supreme managed to get its pace.
Most of their accomplishments were mainly due to the "Kanye Effect". In the year 2006, Supreme released Supreme Blazer SB, a pair of shoes in collaboration with Nike.
The shoes were sold for roughly $140 with a resale price between $290 to $340. In the year 2007, Kanye West can be seen wearing the shoes at the Grammy Foundation's Star Night award. After the pictures taken went viral, the price of the shoes skyrocketed to $770.
This also occurred to the summer shirt worn by the rapper Tyler in the music video The Creator which is "She" in which the shirt was around $140 but the price, later on, went up to $3400.

Regardless of that, not all Supreme products were selling like hot pancakes. Resellers like Chris Magnaye will decide on the next hottest and best-selling Supreme products. The Supreme limited edition products will mean that most of their products will mostly be guaranteed real profit.
If you were to look at the actual retail price of most Supreme merchandise, they are not as expensive as you think they are. Most of the T-shirts started selling at $35 to $140 for summer wear. However, as soon as the products were sold out, their price will increase by as much as 30-fold from the original price.
As we can see now, there are also other brands out there that have followed this limited edition strategy to start the frenzy of their products. This way most people will feel as if they own something very exclusive.
