Top 10 Most Dangerous Airlines in The World

Travelling with an aeroplane has proven to be a much safer way than driving in a car. However, mistakes are inevitable and to some airlines, it could be a lot worse than your experience while being thousands of feet in the air.

Similar to any type of business out there, there will constantly be ups and downs when running it. But some airlines out there might not even be worth your money considering the number of risks and accidents that have occurred.

Here we will give you a list of the top 10 most dangerous airlines out there which will make you think twice before flying with them.

10. Daalo Airlines

Somalia will be one of the countries that you will find very hard to conduct any sort of business let alone when it involves big aircraft. With that being said, surprisingly Daallo Airlines managed to give its best service despite being in an unstable market constantly in the wage of war.
Not just that but Daalo Airlines also combines with its top competitor Jubba Airways to compete with other international companies such as Turkish Airlines. For two decades, Daallo Airlines became the airline of choice for generals, militant groups as well as terrorists.

Even being a small company in a very chaotic region, Dallo Airlines managed to impress many parties when the company is only involved in 3 air accidents. One of them is in 2016 when a terrorist decided to detonate a bomb in an aeroplane carrying many passengers in the air.

The explosion was supposed to kill everyone in the plane but it only caused a small hole in the side of the aircraft. One passenger did die but it was not because of the explosion but rather being sucked out of the aeroplane.

9. Blue Wing

Bluewing is an airline company based in Suriname, a small country located in the northeast of South America. This company has quite a bad reputation in the airline industry which is due to the old Antonov plane that the company still uses.
When it first started operationally in 2002, Blue Wing was involved in 3 aeroplane accidents in just two years. In 2008, another Blue Wing aeroplane crashes on the hillside while attempting to avoid landing on a field that already has a plane on it.

The incident caused 19 casualties among the passengers. Later on, another Blue Wing plane had an accident but luckily no death was reported. Things got out of hand when Blue Wing was involved in another accident, resulting in 8 of its passengers dead.

The European Union decided to bam the airline company from ever operating for the second time in history(the first was in 2004).

8. SCAT Airlines
SCAT Airlines is not considered people's favourite choice of flight but this Kazakhstan Airlines company was given permission again to operate by the European Union. Looking at the records of the company's safety from 2013 until 2015, we can see a dangerous trend going on.
Problems arise with the take-off and landing of the aeroplane, malfunctioning gears, and the tyres being unbalanced during landing. It was in 2013, the 760 SCAT plane which was travelling from Kokshetau to Almaty crashed due to deep smog in the Kuzyltu village.

Unfortunately, all the passengers and crew died on sight. Despite being given permission again, another accident occurred in 2018 which proves that the company is not truly safe. It was a sign of relief that no death was reported.

7. Nepal Airlines

This is not the only company in Nepal to be on this list. To be fair this company used to be called Royal Nepal Airlines operating on one of the harshest surfaces on earth's planet. It is full of mountains and terrains in which setting up an airport will be very difficult.

However, it is no excuse for not being able to maintain high safety in their airline service. Ever since it was established in 1960 until 2002, Nepal Airlines was involved in 16 tragedies. 7 of them led to lives being lost.

They then decided to rename the company to Nepal Airlines but despite the change, the company is still facing the same problems. The worst incident to ever happen was in 2014 which caused 18 deaths. As of now, the company is banned from ever going into the airspace of the European Union.

6. Susi Air

This airline is quite special considering that the United States of America has issued a specific warning for any ambassadors that will use their service. This Indonesian-based airline company was banned from ever operating in the United States back in 2012.

The banned took place due to the airline company being involved in 3 accidents in just a period of 12 months. It is going to be quite difficult for the airline company to appeal to the United States.

To make matter worse, the head chief of Indonesian Narcotics even stated that most of the aeroplanes involved in the crash were due to the misuse of drugs by the pilot.

5. Tara Air

This will be another airline company from Nepal and Tara air is claimed as being the biggest airline service provider in the mountains of Nepal. However, the company only has 6 light STOL planes.
If you think that smaller means safer then you're definitely wrong as the safety records of Tara Air say otherwise. Tara Air was first established back in 2009 and in its first 10 years of operating, 5 accidents have been reported, two of which were quite serious taking 45 lives.

Both of the planes were involved in a crash on the mountain terrains and killed all passengers and crew inside. With 3 more minor accidents happening, the company really needs to be on the move towards redeeming its reputation.

4. Kam Air
It seems that Kam Air tops the 4th of this list as the most dangerous airline in the world. It is not that Kam Air did not try hard enough but it seems that the company is facing problems that no airline has encountered before.

Kam Air is operating in Afghanistan and as you might have guessed, they have to deal with harassment from small groups of terrorist-like Taliban. For years, they have been extorted by these criminals who would be furious simply if their leader misses the flight.

Not just that, but this airline has also been blacklisted since it allowed the smuggling of opium and its airbase are constantly targeted by rockets from these notorious group. Diligence and patience due pay off as Kam Air managed to conquer 90% of the airline market in Afghanistan.

Kam Air is also the biggest taxpayer in the country but nevertheless, this does not make them safe to travel in any way. In 2005, such an unfortunate event happened to kill 104 passengers and crews on board. You would probably stay away from this airline if you don't want to be the target of those RPGs.

3. Lion Air

Ever since its first operation in 2000, Lion Air has witnessed eight of its plane destroyed in the tragedy. The incident involved the Lion Air Boeing 737 Max which crashed into the ocean causing 189 deaths.

This quickly ruins Lion Air's reputation not just simply due to the crash but also it's pilot which is well known for using illegal drugs. Some of the common drugs being used were crystal meth and methamphetamine.

That simply does not end there as the pilot tried to justify the use of the drugs as he told the chief operation of the Narcotic Agency that it was merely to stay focused while carrying out the task at hand.

2. Merpati Nusantara Airlines

Another Indonesian airline company be on this list and Merpati Nusantara Airlines is a company based in Jakarta. According to Aviation Safety Network, it has been reported that not less than 50 accidents have happened involving this company ever since it was established in 1962.

Of all of those accidents, nearly 20 of them have caused lives lost and the most tragic one causes 69 casualties. The last accident that happened associated with Merpati Nusantara Airlines was back in 2013.

This company stop its operation in 2014 due to financial problems and the safety of the company overall. It was estimated that the company had a debt of $734 billion but they believed that they will come back strong in 2019 when the company had enough funds from investors.

1. Ariana Afghan

The company Ariana Afghan tops our list of the most dangerous airline company out there. Some of you might wonder why this airline company is not safe at all and you might have guessed that it's also been operational in Afghanistan since 1955 despite Kam Air conquering the business there.

The sad part is that Ariana Afghan only have four old aeroplanes to handle 12 destinations that it would go to. The company planned on adding 3 more planes by 2019. As people would've expected that a small company running its business in an unstable political country is definitely not easy.

This company hold a record of being involved in 27 accidents in which 8 of which resulted in people dying. In 1969, a mistake happened during the landing of the Ariana Boeing 727 which crashed through houses and killed two people on land as well as 48 onboard.

In 1998 however, another plane of the same model also crashed in the mountains of Kabul causing 45 deaths in total. It gets more interesting as in 1988 the Ariana Afghan plane was shot down by Pakistani mercenaries. If I were you, I would definitely stay far away from these dangerous airlines.
