The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
We always hear about the seven wonders of the world which have been by the best architect in the world showing structures similar to the modern era. But do you also know that there has been the existence of another 7 wonders that instead were built since ancient times?
Anybody who has seen these structures will be left amazed at how wonderful and advanced the technology was back then. Here is the list of the top 7 wonders of ancient times built by mankind that can be said as far surpass their own time.

1. Giza Pyramid
The Giza Pyramid was estimated to have been built between 2584 and 2561 BC whereby the ruler of Egyptians at the time was Pharaoh Khufu. This building has been said to remain the tallest one out there for more than 4000 years.
What is astonishing is that it was built on a very big scale aside from having almost perfect measurements of all angles and symmetrical values that balanced.
The Khufu pyramid is one of the only magnificent ancient structures that still stands to this day.
2. Zeus Statue in Olympia
The Greeks believe in the thunder of God, Zeus, and this statue of Zeus was recorded to be built by a professional carver called Phidias in 435 BC. Phidias was very profound in his work and mastered the true skill of carving.
He was also responsible for another statue of Greeks gods like the Athena. His most well-known work will be the Zeus Statue and this particular structure was believed to be 13 meters in height picturing Zeus sitting on his throne.

However, due to the spread of Christianity in this region, Olympia was left sitting to dust without being taken care of. The statue was then moved to Constantinople before being burnt to ashes when Lausus Palace was on fire as the statue was kept inside.
3. Artemis Temple in Ephesus
This building was built as a house of worship for the Artemis Goddess. The structure was located in the city of Ephesus which is now known as Selçuk, Turkey. The temple was said to be undergoing repair and restoration in 4 different phases, ultimately changing the whole structure every step of the way.
The final version of the Artemis temple before being destroyed was a very beautiful and gigantic temple supported by 127 poles as high as 18 meters in height. Similar to the Zeus Statue in Olympia, the influence of religion has brought the whole place to forget its old belief.
The place was then burnt to the ground by the Christians.
4. Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
The Halicarnassus tomb or also known as the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus was a structure constructed somewhere between 353 to 350 BC. It's currently situated in Bodrum city, Turkey.
It was built as a cooperation between two Greek architects named Satyros and Pythius. They were both helped by some of the best carvers during that time Leochares, Byraxis, Scopas, and Timotheus in order to decorate every inch of the tomb.
The tomb was built by the orders of Artemisia, the wife to the Governor of Halicarnassus named Mausolus. The Mausolus was later used as a reference to the tomb becoming the origin of the word mausoleum which refers to the amazing spiral structure.
5. The Colossus of Rhodes
The huge statue of Rhodes signifies the Greek Gods, Helios who the Greeks believed to control the sun. The statue was built in the city of Rhodes in 280 BC by a carver named Chares of Lindos. It was in commemoration of the victorious battle of Rhodes against the attack from the Cyprus army in 305 BC.
This tall structure measures 33 meters in height and was only standing for 54 years before crumbling to the ground due to an earthquake in 226 BC which causes a collapse of the statue as the knee part starts to crack.
After the statue fall down, the initiative to rebuild the whole statue was not done due to the fear of Helios' wrath vented on them. Therefore, the statue was left as it is before disappearing over the course of time.
6. Alexandria Fire House
The Alexandria Fire House is a building 100 meters in height that were successfully built during the rule of Ptolemy II in 280-247 BC. The whole construction was at first initiated by his father, Ptolemy I.
The firehouse was located in Pharos, a small island in Alexandria(now Egypt) and it took them 12 years to be fully completed. The firehouse still stands until 956 when an immense earthquake compromises the structure of the firehouse.

Hundreds of years later during the 15th century, another incident of earthquake took place leading to the complete destruction of the whole building in 1480.
7. Babylon Garden
The history behind Babylon Garden will fascinate every reader out there who simply loves history. However, the mystery regarding the location of the Babylon Garden has remained unknown to this day.
Some believed that this inverted garden is just a myth contradicting other historians who really believed in its existence but still did not know its true location.
The story was that the garden was built by Nebuchadnezzar II in 605 BC as a gift to his wife, Amtis of Media. Amytis was someone who comes from the mountains and was used to the scenery of the flora and fauna.
In order to ensure that Amytis can live similarly to where she comes from, Nebuchadnezzar started the mega project of a structure that has its very own ecosystem and stands at 23 meters. Its shape is as if it was a mountain so Amytis will spend most of her time in the majestic garden.
This just truly shows what true love means to Nebuchadnezzar dedicating this wonder to his own wife.
