Many have criticized him since the sale of the website's source code is considered a public access code and not privately owned. Despite all of it, he firmly states that he is not selling the domain of the website but only the original code that is documented in an NFT art. 

Interestingly enough, a day after the sale was made, someone detected an error in the code that was on the NFT and believed that the value will rise even more in the future.

4. Ocean Front ($6 million)

In March 2021, Justin Stun has obtained the artwork of Ocean Front at a staggering price of $6 million from Beeple. It might be that some of you assume that NFT is only a place for billionaires to spend their huge money for the sake of showing off. But some part of it was used for a good cause.

Through the sale of this NFT, all of the profit that was made will be funneled to the Open Earth Organization, which is an NGO striving to solve the problem of climate change on a global scale. This contribution will ease the journey of achieving the ultimate goal.

3. CROSSROAD ($6.6 million)

CROSSROAD is another artwork produced by Beeple which is their first NFT that was sold on Nifty Gateway and it has an interesting story to it. In the first phase of creating it, this NFT was planned to be changed according to the result of the United States of America election in 2020.

If Joe Biden won, this NFT will change and it will picture the ex-president Donald Trump laying down on the ground with lots of insults written all over his body. However, if Donald Trump reigns in the election, the image will show Trump standing while wearing a crown on his head and his feet stepping on fire as a symbolic victory twice in a row.

You might have seen the artwork of pixelated characters before similar to the one above through Cryptopunks. Cryptopunks is a software system that was created by two American individuals and through it, more than 10000 unique sets of digital characters were created and a big part of them was sold in the blockchain market.

These unique characters have become so popular since their features that wear a face mask symbolize the reality that people are living now ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hits the whole world.

1. Everydays: The First 5000 Days ($69 million)

This is the most expensive NFT in history as of now and it was sold by Mike Winkelmann or more known as Beeple in the online bidding market. His popularity and fame starts to rise dramatically after selling many of his NFT artworks that reached millions of dollars.

What is so unique about this NFT you may ask? Well, it consists of a collection of digital pictures that were taken since 2007. There are over 5000 pictures in this NFT that showed his growth along with his career in this art industry.

With the huge success of selling this NFT, he was listed in third place for the most expensive artist in the world. In reality, NFT has changed our perspective on the arts and teaches us to be more appreciative of people's work.
