1. Blue Rose
The Blue Rose is another rare variant on this list and it has become one of the mythological stories being told to those who knew it. It has also appeared in many works of literature and paintings around the world.
However, there is not a single blue rose that exists naturally since the roses plant does not have any blue pigments required called delphinidin. Scientists have tried for many years to create the blue rose but most of them failed.
In 2004, Suntory a Japanese company working together with an Australian company Floeigene managed to produce a rose that is made by genetic modification called Applause. They have managed to incorporate delphinidin into a white rose.
In reality, the color of the rose petals is not exactly blue but slightly purple or lavender. It took the scientists almost 13 years of research to get this result. In 2009, Suntory took Applause into the market and sold them at a hefty price tag.
