In this modern era, a person convicting a crime should be punishable according to the law and depending on which country you are residing in, the type of punishment will be rather different.

Some might consider it ruthless if a crime being committed is punishable by death but a long time ago in the middle ages, there are more cruel and unusual punishments charged to the committer.

1. Brazen Bull

Imagine yourself being claustrophobic, then you will be under so much stress in such a closed space. However, the Brazen Bull is much crueler as the prosecuted will be placed inside a metal-shaped bull that will fire underneath it.

The person will definitely suffocate to death as the flame burns them to ashes. Everyone around will be petrified after hearing the sound coming out of the bull as the offender screams in agony to their final breath.

2. Coffin Torture

The victim will be placed inside the coffin upside down without any food or water. The duration of imprisonment will be depending on the severity of the crime being committed some are left to die while the birds start to eat the victim's flesh away.

Of course, this punishment will be set in the open as the public witness how despicable the offender is with some showing all their hatred by throwing rocks at the victim.

3. Judas Cradle

In this punishment, the victim will be stripped naked and placed on top of a pointy-edged pyramid. As you can see from the image above, the sharp end will penetrate the victim's anus or vagina as they start to scream relentlessly.

This torture is commonly done to obtain crucial information from the victim. If the victim remains uncooperative, a weight will be placed on top of them which adds even more to the pain as death awaits them.

4. Rat Torture

This is perhaps one of the torture or punishments still being done today, especially for the mafias. In this method, a portion of the victim's body will be exposed with the rats placed on top and enclosed in a cage.

Later on, an element of heat will be placed on top of the cage causing the rats to be distressed as it tries to make their way out. This will ultimately force the rat to eat your flesh and dig its way out of your body until the victim slowly dies.

This usually lasts for hours before death and you can just imagine the kind of pain the victim has to go through.

5. Saw Torture

The saw torture is perhaps the most easiest and accessible method of punishment as this tool was required to build houses in the Middle Ages. The victim will be hung invertedly as the executioner grabs the sharp-edged saw and cuts through the victim's body.
