6. Bang Na Expressway (Thailand)

The longest roadway in the world as of now, the Bang Na Expressway is the longest bridge in the world when it was first completed on February 2000. The title was then taken away by the Changhua-Kaohsiung Bridge in Taiwan.

Bang Na or its official name Burapha Withi Expressway connects Bangkok as a toll destination and it was built by a group of consortiums from Thailand, Germany, the United States, and Sweden.

This is the only roadway bridge on this list as the Bang Na Expressway stretches across 53.9 km long.

5. Gran Weinan Weihe Bridge (China)

This 79.7km bridge is part of the Zhengzhou-Xi'an high-speed railway that connects Zhengzhou and Xi'an in China.

After it was completed in 2008, it became the world's longest bridge but was later dethroned by two new bridges from the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway which was completed in 2010.

4. Grand Tianjin Bridge (China)

With a distance of 113.7km, the Grand Tianjin Bridge is the 4th longest bridge in the world which can also be found in China.

This bridge is a railway bridge located between the region of Langfang and Qingxian as part of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway project. The construction was completed in 2010 and later opened in 2011.

This bridge received recognition from the Guinness World Records as the second-longest bridge at the time.

3. Grand Cangde Bridge (China)

Another bridge in China is also in the same project as Grand Tianjin Bridge. It was also completed in the same year 2010 with this bridge being slightly longer with a distance of 115.8 km.

The uniqueness of the bridge is that it was built using anti-earthquake technology where almost 3,100 pillars were used as support.

2. Changhua-Kaohsiung Bridge (Taiwan)

Sitting in second place of this list will be the Changhua-Kaohsiung Bridge which is situated in Taiwan with a distance of 157.3 km. The project was finished in 2007 and it became the longest bridge at the time until 2010.

It was considered one of the best achievements of the Taiwanese government. This bridge is part of Taiwan's high-speed railway which takes you to the west part of the Island. The whole railway including the bridge was built by Taiwanese engineers using Japanese technology.

1. Grand Danyang-Kunshan Bridge (China)

The project for this bridge was initiated in 2006 and came to completion 4 years later in 2010. This bridge is part of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway project. The Grand Danyang Kunshan Bridge starts in Shanghai and Nanjing a neighboring city with a population of more than 30 million people.

Both cities are located in the Yangtze River Delta which is one of the locations where civilization was raised. Delta itself is home to around 140 million people and is the economic engine, productivity, and center of creativity of China.

This engineering achievement of the Grand Dayang-Kunshan Bridge is living proof of the contribution of Delta to mankind. This longest bridge in the world measures 164.8 km in distance and the record is still being held to this day.
